About the curriculum
This programme provides a structured training programme working to a syllabus. You will be required to keep and submit a personal Portfolio of Evidence before sitting your examinations.
To achieve the Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing Learners must pass the following Assessments:

Training Details

- Sessions & Classes will run once a week.
- Morning: 10am - 1pm
- Afternoon: 2pm - 5pm
*All students are required to attend all classes to be get best result in completing course and becoming registered dental nurse
Topics Covered
The timetable is divided into ten sections. At the end of each section an assessment will be conducted to check trainee knowledge and understanding of the topic area. Each assessment will have a clearly indicated pass percentage.

Assessment
To achieve the Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing Learners must pass the following Assessments:
- A portfolio of evidence covering relevant assessment criteria as indicated in the units below. The portfolio is assessed and internally quality assured by suitably qualified Provider staff.
- A Knowledge Test consisting of a 75 question, 90-minute Multiple Choice Question assessment,.
- A Professional Discussion - a scenario-based assessment, lasting 55 minutes
The overall grading for the qualification is pass/fail. To achieve a pass overall, the Learner must achieve a pass grade in all three assessments.
The qualification is suitable for Learners aged 16+ who are currently employed as a trainee Dental Nurse and are registered with an NEBDN Provider. It is delivered and assessed in English. Learners must be sufficiently fluent in written and spoken English to communicate effectively with patients, their relatives, the dental team, and other healthcare professionals in the UK. (GDC Standards for the Dental Team, 2.1.2)
Learners must also be able to meet the work-based clinical requirements of the Portfolio of Evidence (PoE) by being employed as trainee Dental Nurses.
What We Need From You As A Trainee Dental Nurse
Attendance
To be entered for your dental nurse examination we require you to have an attendance of minimum 85%. Students are required to attend all the designated study days as per the course timetable. The course timetable given to you is designed to cover all the topics within the current curriculum.
Failure to attend will lead to the session being missed which in turn may put you behind with coursework. Students are politely asked to inform staff as soon as they know they are unable to attend a session. It is the student’s responsibility to catch up on work they have missed. Any sessions missed by a student will not be re-delivered. However, support and guidance will be offered by your tutor.
Failure to comply will result in you being recorded as absent/unauthorised absence and this will jeopardise your place on the course and being entered for the examination.
Punctuality
We ask politely that all students arrive on time to all sessions of the course so that we are able to deliver exceptional training for you to become a qualified dental nurse. Please sign the register on arrival. You may not sign for other students who are not present.
If you know you are going to be late please call staff members and let us know. It will not be acceptable to tell other students to pass on messages.
Absence
If you are unable to attend, then please let the centre know by telephone; giving us as much notice as possible. Unauthorised absence will result in 2 verbal warnings followed by 2 written warnings. If a student continues to have unauthorised absences, then you may be dismissed from the course. Should this be the case any course fee or deposit will not be refunded
Behaviour
The General Dental Council (GDC) allow us to follow clear standards that the Dental Care Professional is expected to behave with regards to professionalism. Booklets will be given to all students on these standards and are expected to read and follow all guidelines.
Students will be encouraged to join in activities and discussion during the sessions. We ask each and every student to respect each other and to listen to peers and others in the group. All values, beliefs, views and opinions should be respected. Unacceptable behaviour will not be tolerated and may jeopardise your place on the course.
Mobile Phones
Mobile phones must be switched off during class sessions unless asked by the class tutor when participating in a class activity. If you need your mobile phone on for an important call you may speak to your tutor about this.
Dress Code
Students should remember once commencement of the course and registered with the NEBDN you are a professional. Clinical scrubs or uniform must not be worn outside of a clinical practice or nor to class. We ask you to dress informal. Offensive or revealing dress code is not permissible in class.
